Google’s Paid Search Growth Slowing Down Again in Feburary ( Pay Per Clik Ad Business May Be Losing Steam )

March 28, 2008 (IDG News Service) For the second straight month, a comScore report suggests that Google Inc.’s revenue engine is slowing down, highlighting again the perils of the company’s overwhelming dependence on a single type of online advertising to fuel its business.

The report is available only to comScore clients, but a comScore spokesman said that its findings are accurately rendered in a note authored yesterday by Citigroup analysts Mark Mahaney and James Samford.

A key takeaway from the Citigroup analysts: In February, clicks on Google’s U.S. search ads grew 3.1% year-on-year. Considering that February had 29 days, the growth rate would probably have been flat without the extra day, Mahaney and Samford wrote.

Coupled with a 0.3% year-on-year decline in January, also per comScore, a trend is emerging that Google’s pay-per-click (PPC) ad business may be losing steam, after powering the search company to mindblowing levels of revenue and profit growth for years.

While the news is of concern mostly to investors, it is also of interest for companies investing in Google’s enterprise software products, such as the fee-based version of the Google Apps suite and the Google Search Appliance. This is because the robust growth of Google’s pay-per-click ad business is what has allowed the company in recent years to fund its endeavors in enterprise search and hosted collaboration and communication suites. Should the pay-per-click business slow down significantly, it could affect Google’s investment in its enterprise software unit, which generates a small percentage of the company’s revenue.

Unfortunately for Google, it lacks a complementary revenue stream at the moment, despite years of actively trying to diversify into other forms of online ads, like banner ads, and into offline ads, like magazine, radio and TV advertising. Google still depends almost entirely on the PPC text ads it delivers along with its search results and in third-party partner sites.

Citigroup has been expecting a paid clicks growth of about 20% year-on-year for Google in the first quarter. “So if the comScore data is accurate and holds for Q1, and if it is representative of Google’s global trends — not just U.S. — then it could imply risk to Q1 estimates,” the analysts wrote.

Google executives, aware that the company is long overdue for diversifying its revenue mix, are promising concrete results this year and in 2009 in display advertising, such as banners, now that the DoubleClick acquisition has been finalized.

In November, Yahoo ranked first in the U.S. in display ad impressions with a 19% share, followed by News Corp.’s Fox Interactive at 16.3%, while Microsoft came in third with 6.7%, according to comScore. Google took seventh place with 1%.

When comScore issued its paid clicks report for January, which also included the fact that Google’s paid clicks had suffered a 7% sequential decline from December, Google officials tried to put a positive spin on the news. They said the decline was due in large part to the company’s initiative to improve the quality of ads’ delivery, meaning that with more precise ad targeting, users had to click on fewer ads.

Google declined to comment about comScore’s February report.

Now you are ready to blog .. after installing your abc blog , i suggest Wordpress cause i am finding quite easy to blog with .. WP..

Choose a Simple , Good Looking template and manage your sidebar very well.. dont get it too much over..

Now all you have to do is to write the quality content .. in which you really think have the power to attract the people.. , sometimes only one powerfull post.. can do the job .. and your traffic goes Boom!.. so .. dont feel dishearted anytime at all.. cause all you have to do is to write the matter related to the red hot topic amongst the people.. or the latest or usefull information , and a hint that dont start to think that you are a superman! and will start writing multiple posts.. first make yourself perfect in few selected things. like if you are a webmaster blog .. then dont go for the Michael Jackson.. History Review.. yes.. exactly .. do write the post relate to your domain name and your blog.. description.

Before advertising you should sign up for the Feed Burner and merge your blog with the feed burner.. so people can subscribe to your feed and get the latest updates on your blog .. recently made. so you have a better chance of getting the daily visitors.

Now you are done with the Content issue that troubles alot generating the traffic, all you have to do is to promote your content now.. because no one’s going to know about your blog in the morning news paper .. .. yes.. know its the main part the most important.. the part of advertising your blog..

Start submitting your blog.. to the following .. services.. they are your blog or website best friend.. to promote your blogs.. yes .. i am talking about the well knowned Technorati. exactly your blog’s friend from the start is tehnorati.. so dont waste any time and sign up for the Technorati and put your blog in the list .. after you are done then move towards Stumble Upon and now put your blog here.. then Digg , Furl.

So far you are doing good.. now its time to move more further .. and start submitting your blog .. to the search engines.. like Google , Yahoo , Msn etc. , one more trick to be in the 40 or more search engines at a time .. you will find some web directories offering more then your expectations for free.. so dont .. waste time and do the jobe done.. here .. they are.. i have already .. finded them for you.

Now the one tough job is to find backlinks for your blog to increase the Page Ranks, this time you will have to help yourself .. yes.. start finding good forums and other blogs.. and post new threads .. and use your signatures in the forum as your Blog Adress .. i mean your website address so you have a fine chance of finding the backlinks .. one more thing to find the backlinks is to post comments on other blogs.. with you blog address.. so if you have posted comment on a big blog then you have done your job .. there are thousands of visitors.. who will read your comment and may be they click on you .. and visit your blog.. so you have .. started to get the backlinks as well..
